【Janis Joplin】 Piece of My Heart

かっこいいな。イントロのギター。「Come on, Take it!」というどうにも辛そうな声。

Janis は思春期の頃、肥満だったそうです。容姿のコンプレックスでずいぶんいじめられたりつらい思いをしてきたようで、有名になってから昔の同窓会に出たときもあまりいい思いをしなかったようです。

そういった背景もあるのか、つらい恋愛を絞りだすような声で歌うことが多い気がします。この曲も：

個人的な話になりますが、NYで知り合ったアメリカ人の友人でよく Janis を聴いていた子がいました。アメリカのヒッピー家庭で育ち、かなり奔放というか自由な発想を持つ子なんですが、自分が同性愛者だと気づいたときには田舎だったせいか大変つらい思いをしたそうです。逃げ出すように都会に出てきたといっていました。

Janis の曲を聴くと、その彼女のどことなく刹那的な、でも生命力いっぱいの生き方がいつもセットになって心に浮かびます。しばらく会ってないけど電話でもしようかな・・・
